Bubbly is the main and virtually only character of The Funnies.
He is an astronaut who works for the fictional association, BRASA (Brasileiros Astronautas – Brazilian Astronauts, a pun on the acronym of NASA, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration). His space ship and home is an orange metallic ball.
Basically, he spends his time traveling through the Universe, visiting new planets and contacting aliens (or eventually fighting them). His missions usually involve fighting intergalactic criminals or collecting information about new planets.

- Bubbly the Astronaut: Bubbly is the main character here.
- The Five Magic Strands Of Hair: Bubbly makes a minor appearance where he (somehow) is distracted from his work when Smudge becomes a clean boy. It is not known how this happens, since a vacuum would block sound. The scene that was scrapped for this one would be more logical, because in the scrapped scene which was featured in the story arc Os Cinco Fios Mágicos, Chinese people hear the scream that Smudge issues.
- The Day I Defeated Monica: Bubbly makes a cameo to see the Robot Cebolinha's corpse when the latter tastes his own medicine.

- The original Brazilian version portrays the character as nameless.
- His authentic name is not known, since Bubbly is merely a nickname.
- Monica Toy asserts that he wears nothing beneath the suit with the episode Planetoys.
